The Ford S-Max is the only MPV in the carmaker's line-up here. Sold in a sole variant for a price of RM234,988, this seven-seater American/European people carrier rivals models such as the Mazda 8 and Honda Odyssey.
Under the hood of this car lies Ford's turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ecoboost engine paired to a SelectShift six-speed automatic transmission (similar setup to the Ford Mondeo sedan). Power output is rated at 240 PS at 6,000rpm and 345 Nm of torque at 4,500rpm. The carmaker claims the 2016 Ford S-Max will return a fuel economy figure of 8.1-litre per 100km on the combined cycle.
Standard features include adaptive LED head lamps, heated and cooled front seats with massage function, 2nd row seats that slide individually, lane departure warning, easy folding 2nd and 3rd row seats with remote release switch in the boot area, and a conversation mirror.
As with all the Ford passenger cars, the new Ford S-Max is offered with a five-year warranty or a 200,000km bumper-to-bumper new vehicle warranty.
Also, all Ford passenger vehicles sold in Malaysia, including the new Ford S-Max, comes with Ford’s Extended Service Plan (ESP). Ford’s ESP is a free three-year or 60,000km maintenance program that covers parts and labour free of charge. The plan also covers free replacements for selected wear-and-tear items such as spark plugs, shock absorbers, engine belts, brake pads, and wiper blades.
