2018 Honda City
The 2018 Honda City competes in the B-segment and rivals models such as the Nissan Almera, Mazda 2 Sedan, Toyota Vios and Volkswagen Vento. Originally launched in 2015, the City received a comprehensive facelift in 2017 that brought about an updated appearance along with improved levels of equipment.
The new-look 2017 City gets dual tone alloy wheels, redesigned bumpers, and, exclusive to the range-topping V grade - LED headlights, tail lights, front fog lamps, and 16-inch wheels. All variants get integrated LED daytime running lights as standard. With the fitment of VSA now standard across the range, the City gets a full 5-star rating by ASEAN NCAP.
The petrol line-up starts with the 1.5 S at RM75,930 OTR without insurance. The top of the range 1.5 V is priced at RM89,240, whilst the recently-added Hybrid model is price at RM89,200.
Sharing its mechanicals with the Jazz hatchback, the four-door City is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre inline-four i-VTEC engine with power rated at 120 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm. All variants send power to the front wheels via a continuously variable automatic transmission and claim to return a fuel efficiency of 17.5 km/L .
The City Sport Hybrid features a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) mated to a 30 PS electric motor that sends drive to the front wheels. Together with the petrol engine, the petrol-electric hybrid combination makes 137 hp and 170 Nm, which Honda Malaysia says is equivalent to a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated engine. The Sport Hybrid is also capable of driving in electric mode (EV) at start up and coast with pure electric at speeds of up to 70 km/h.
The City Sport Hybrid returns a very impressive fuel efficiency of 25.6 km/L.
