Honda Malaysia offers the Honda HR-V in three variants – S, E and V priced at RM98,060, RM107,410 and RM117,430 respectively. It competes with compact crossovers like the Mazda CX-3, Mitsubishi ASX and Peugeot 2008.

All variants feature a 1.8-litre engine and G-Design Shift continuously variable automatic transmission. The naturally aspirated SOHC i-VTEC mill outputs 142hp at 6,500rpm and 172Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. The Japanese carmaker claims the step-off acceleration of the HR-V is quicker than the larger 2.0-litre CR-V.

In terms of features, all HR-V variants come with same design 17-inch alloy wheels 215/55 series tires, auto headlights, front and rear fog lamps, LED rear combination lights, a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, power adjustable and retractable side mirrors and folding rear seats.

Features such as side mirror integrated turn signals, smart entry, push start ignition, hands-free telephone steering wheel switch control and single zone auto air-conditioning are available from the mid-range E variant onwards. Reserved for the range topper are equipment such as LED headlights, cruise control, multi-angle rear view camera, half leather black upholstery (fabric on the others) and, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob.

Audio system in each of the variants are different. The base model only gets four-speakers and a CD player with USB and AUX port. The mid-range S comes fitted with an upgraded five-inch monitor, while premium V gets a seven-inch display, six speakers, a HDMI port as well as a voice recognition steering wheel switch.

Reverse sensors, emergency stop signals, hill start assist, vehicle stability assist, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist and electronic parking brake are standard across the line-up. Airbag count is two on the S and E variants, while the top of the line Honda HR-V V variant gets six airbags. 

All new Honda models come with a 5-year, unlimited mileage warranty and even free labour fees at certain service intervals.
