2018 Hyundai Veloster
The Hyundai Veloster is truly unique car and one of its kind in Malaysia. It features an asymmetrical door layout, where there is one door on the driver's side and two on the passenger side. Hyundai Malaysia sells the car here in three variants - 1.6 Premium, Turbo 1.6 Premium T-GDI and 1.6 Premium Sport 1.6 T-GDI. The less powerful, entry-level Veloster 1.6 Premium is priced at RM129,067, while the range topping Turbo Premium Sport will set you back RM151,746.
A naturally aspirated 1.6-litre four-cylinder Gamma engine, paired to a six-speed torque converter type automatic transmission powers the Veloster 1.6 Premium. This powertrain combo is good for 132hp at 6,300rpm and 158Nm of torque at 4,850rpm.
Powering the two Turbo variants is a Gamma T-GDI unit that displaces similar capacity as the entry level model. As a result of forced induction, the T-GDI motor pushes 186hp at 5,500rpm and 265Nm of torque from a low 1,500rpm. A seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission takes care of the duty of sending all the horses and twist to the front wheels. Thanks to the added power, the Veloster Turbo is capable of completing the century sprint in eight seconds flat, while the top speed is rated at 214km/h.
