Overview

Hyundai Sime-Darby Motors' answer to mid-size 5-seater SUVs like the Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage, Mitsubishi ASX, Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester, and Volkswagen Tiguan, is the Tucson that retails with a starting price of RM126,188. Offered here in four trim levels, this Korean high-rider is locally assembled at Inokom's plant in Kulim, Kedah.

The Hyundai Tucson range of engines is probably the widest in the segment. The Nu naturally aspirated 2.0-litre engine, delivering outputs of 155 PS and 192 Nm is found in the Elegance and Premium variants. Drive is transmitted through a 6-speed automatic transmission, with the Premium having an intelligent all-wheel drive. Elegance only make do with drive to the front wheels.

The next engine choice is the petrol Turbo. This recently launched variant is equipped with a Gamma 1.6 TDI engine. The 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine with direct injection pumps out a healthy 177 PS and 265 Nm. The transmission for the 1.6 turbo is a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and drive is only to the front wheels.

The range topping variant is the turbocharged diesel 2.0-litre R-series CRDI engine. It delivers 178 PS and 400 Nm, driving the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic.

Prices are as follows : Elegance 2.0 : RM126,188, Premium 2.0 AWD, RM159,888, Gamma 1.6 RM 145,688 and Diesel R-series CRDI 2.0 : RM 155,788

Standard features include LED daytime running lights, 17-inch wheels, display audio with reverse camera and leather upholstery.

The Gamma Turbo, Diesel and Premium 2.0 variants all have features such as 6 airbags, chrome coated door handles with lighting, automatic on/off LED head lamps, side mirror with puddle lamp, drive mode selector, electric parking brake with hold function, coloured meter information display,  powered driver's seat adjustment, navigation, cruise control, and front view camera. A powered tail gate is available only in the Diesel and Turbo variants.

The recently launched Premium 2.0 adds a panoramic moonroof, roof rails and full automatic air conditioning on top of the two turbocharged engine variants.

Review: New Hyundai Tucson Turbo – For The Simpler Things In Life, Now Boosted

The top half of the dashboard is also new, complementing the new infotainment screen with a higher quality look and feel (soft touch leather with double stitching wrapping is only available in the Tucson Turbo). We once again sing praises for the ease of use in the new infotainment system. Maps and navigation are loaded within seconds, while music is played immediately through the Android Auto connection. No need for a SIM-card or apps for mirroring, as this is truly the best integration of key apps from our mobile phones into a vehicle.

Hyundai Tucson 1.6 T-GDI and 2.0 R-Series CRDI – Punching Above Their Belts

It seems that all everyone can talk about these days are compact crossovers based off of small hatchback platforms. It’s difficult to fault them given that they’re the perfect fit for urban life, featuring both compact dimensions and extra practicality over the majority of passenger cars.

Hyundai Tucson is a "Game Changer"

After driven it for months, this car has really caught my attention. No regrets in purchasing it as my daily driver (to commute I mean), in fact, it had induced more love than hate whenever I drive it. Brand perception aside (in Malaysia typically), this car has lots to offer. From driving dynamics to ride comfort, everything is top notch, not compromising it's build quality as oppose to some of it's Japanese rivals. Very responsive and punchy turbo engine, injecting more fun into the driving dynamics. That said, not forgetting Hyundai as an emerging automotive brand in pursuit of achieving world-class status, a game-changer to be! Believing in change, Satisfied Customer - Less

Non Luxirious Yet Satisying in Quality and Stylish

I have bought this car in 2012, because i believe the brand (Hyundai). Coincidentally all of my family change to Hyundai brand at that very year. Its a very economic kind of car, yet it is so fulfilling positively in driving experience. Plus, this car also used in ehailing service and passenger's review increase my confident to this brand. - Less
