The Isuzu MU-X is a seven-seat SUV that is based on the D-Max pick-up truck, which means it features a body on frame configuration. Most of the mechanical bits are shared between the two models as well. Available in two variants, this Toyota Fortuner and Ford Everest-rivalling vehicle starts at RM176,640 for the entry-level 2.5 4x2 A/T. The top of the line Isuzu MU-X 2.5 4x4, on the other hand, is priced at RM183,000.
The MU-X is offered only in a 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, shared with the D-Max pick-up truck. Power output is rated at 136 PS at 3,400rpm and 320 Nm of torque between 1,800rpm and 2,800rpm. Power is sent to the ground via a five-speed torque converter type automatic transmission with sequential shift.
Apart from drivetrain difference, the shift-on-the-fly 4x4 variant only adds 8-inch infotainment system with sharkfin antenna and rear entertainment monitor.
Standard features in both 2017 MU-X include 6 airbags, ESC with hill start assist, hill descent control, reverse camera, LED headlamps with LED DRL, automatic air conditioning with vents for all seats, powered driver's seat adjustment, cruise control, and eLumax continuously backlit meters.
