Overview
Mitsubishi Outlander is the company's answer to the 3-row SUV, made popular by the 2015 Nissan X-Trail. Other direct competitors include the Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Fortuner, and Kia Sorento.
When the model was first introduced in February 2016, it was fully imported from Japan with the highest specs level.
Today, customers benefit from a lower OTR price through local-assembly as well as an option to have lower annual running cost with the choice of a 2.0-litre engine.
The flagship Outlander 2.4 (167 PS, 222 Nm) is now priced from RM154,988, while the smaller engine capacity 2.0-litre (145 PS, 196 Nm) variant is priced from RM139,988.
Both engine capacities deliver their power through a CVT-type transmission and traction is distributed through a clever Multi-Select 4WD. The system drives the front wheels primarily in 'Eco' mode, improving fuel consumption. 4-wheel grip will engage only when loss of traction is detected.
Should the driver require more 4WD grip, '4WD Auto' mode can be manually selected. This mode balances the distribution of front and rear torque. A third mode called '4WD Lock' is useful for driving terrain that requires much more rear-wheel traction, such as steep inclines.
Apart from engine performance difference, the Outlander 2.4 variant adds features such as LED front headlamps, a rear spoiler, powered tailgate, a moonroof, electronic parking brake with Hold Assist, powered driver's seat with leather upholstery and All Round Monitor (bird's eye view camera system).
Standard features in the Outlander includes 18-inch wheels, 7 airbags including driver knee airbag, automatic front wipers, infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and the sophisticated Multi Select 4WD.

2016 Mitsubishi Outlander – Jack of All Trades
Many of us still refer to Sports Utility Vehicles as ‘Pajeros’. That is how well the SUV from Mitsubishi has been accepted here. Known worldwide for being super reliable and sturdy, the Pajero played a pivotal role in instilling a sense of trust in customers on the brand as much as SUVs are concerned.
