A quick look for a new, European family sedan priced between RM170k to RM200k reveals a small ring of on-going, local competition between the Volkswagen Passat, Ford Mondeo and this - the Peugeot 508.
Three variants are on offer from Nasim Peugeot Malaysia, with two sedan body styles (THP and GT Diesel variants) and one wagon (SW THP).
The THP variant, with pricing starting at RM174,786.29 for sedan and RM184,511 for Wagon SW, has a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that deliver outputs of 165 PS and 240 Nm of torque. A six-speed torque converter automatic is tasked for self-shifting duties.
The GT Diesel only available in the sedan body style is priced from RM202,007. The 2.2-litre turbocharged turbodiesel engine produces a massive 450 Nm of torque and 206 PS of peak power. Mated to the six-speed automatic, the GT Diesel completes the century dash in 8.4 seconds, 0.8 seconds faster than the petrol THP variants.
Standard features include full LED headlamps, blind spot monitoring, keyless entry with push start, 18-inch wheels, 4-zone automatic air conditioning, colour head-up display (HUD), 500-watt JBL 10-speaker setup with Arkamys 3D sound processing, 7-inch infotainment system, reverse camera, and power adjustable front seats.
The GT Diesel adds driver's seat with memory and massaging function, Nappa leather upholstery and 19-inch wheels with 235/40 tyres.
The SW THP wagon only adds a panoramic glassroof and power operation tailgate over the sedan variant.
