Key Highlights
Overview
The most affordable subcompact sedan in Malaysia is the Proton Saga, with prices starting from just RM35,590.
Similar to the model it replaces, the Proton Saga is powered by a 1.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, albeit now with variable valve timing (VVT). The engine outputs 94 bhp (70 kW) and 120 Nm to the front wheels via a Punch-sourced CVT-type transmission or a five-speed manual.
Dual front airbags are standard across the range, though features like ABS with EBD and Brake Assist are only available on the Executive and Premium variants. On top of that, Premium variants (RM44,342) are also equipped with a reverse camera, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control (TC) and Hill-hold Assist. A driver seat belt reminder with pre-tensioner is also standard across the range.
The basic warranty coverage for Proton vehicles is 5 years or 150,000-kilometre mileage, whichever occurs first.
