Overview

The second-generation Proton Persona is a sedan that shares its underpinnings with Iriz hatchback. It is offered here in four variants, with a starting price of RM44,831 for the base 1.6 Standard Manual. On the other hand, the range topping Premium CVT retails for RM57,473.

The Persona lineup is powered by the same 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated VVT engine offered in the Iriz hatchback, which outputs 107 bhp at 5,750 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,000r pm.

Although two transmissions are available to choose from, the five-speed manual is only available in the standard grade. CVT-type automatic is available in all grades. According to the national carmaker, the manual and CVT-type automatic variants of the Persona are able to return a fuel consumption figure of 5.6- and 6.1-litres per 100km respectively. This sedan is also the first Proton model to be offered with an ECO Driving Indicator.

Standard features include 15-inch alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist, electric headlamp leveling and front airbags.

The Executive variant adds front fog lamps, split-folding rear seats, a better audio system with 4-speakers and steering wheel switches, rear USB port chargers, a rear spoiler and a trunk release switch on the key fob.

The Premium variant comes fitted with a touch screen display audio that also displays the reverse camera, 6 airbags, leather seat coverings and smart key entry with push start button.

The basic warranty coverage for Proton vehicles is 5 years or 150,000-kilometre mileage, whichever occurs first.

2016 Proton Persona – Smaller in Size, Bigger in Aspirations

The Persona has been one of Proton’s most successful models in recent memory. At a time when Proton’s reputation was taking a beating and bleeding market share, the Persona in 2007 was the model that successfully stemmed the decline and helped atone for the series of less-than-successful hatchback models that came before, namely the Gen.2, Satria Neo, and Savvy.

You Pay for what you get

Did i regret buying this car ? No , for the price definitely no . For comfort , no regret at all . Fuel efficiency , average . First of all the seats are very comfortable to be honest. The driving experience is on point . The A/C is super cold The boot is huge CVT is somehow still a bit of laggy and it jerks if you pump Euro 95 , recommend Euro97. 1st gear is not too torqy , but the 2nd ,3rd & the 4th gear is very more powerful then the 1st gear . The height of the car is higher then any regular city car , extra head room for sure , doors won't scratch on the divider if you park at a side parking when you open the door . The leg room at the back seats is just simply enough , not very spacious . If you have a hook at the back of the front seats , the passenger at the back might not be that comfortable to be sit in the car with stuffs hanging infront of his face . Comparing to a Myvi, Bezza, Proton Saga Better driving experience More comfortable seats More power on the highway But , Perodua always have a better look and extra leg room As a driver , i prefer Persona As a Passenger , i prefer Myvi - Less

A great car to start with.

Have great aspects in everything u need while not looking cheaper. Consider this other than always toyota honda in malaysia. Its not a bad value for a b segment car. Do have it lackings. But save here for the future for ur dream car - Less
