The facelifted Volkswagen Jetta is a sedan that rides on the MK6 Golf hatchback's underpinnings. It is offered here in three guises - Trendline, Comfortline and Highline, with prices ranging from RM108,990 to RM128,990.
This locally-assembled C-segment German saloon competes in one of the most competitive segments, which is occupied by the likes of Honda Civic, Kia Cerato, Nissan Sylphy, Ford Focus Sedan, Toyota Corolla Altis, Hyundai Elantra and Mazda 3 Sedan.
The only powertrain option offered by Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) for the 2017 Jetta is a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG). Power output is rated at 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Volkswagen claims the new Jetta will sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 8.6 seconds all the way to a 220km/h top speed while returning a frugal 5.0 litres per 100 kilometres on the combined cycle.
All new Jetta models purchased in 2018 also include a free 3-year service package. Volkswagen models have a service interval of 15,000 kilometres or every 12 months from the date of registration. All new Volkswagen passenger vehicles purchased from an authorised Volkswagen Dealership in Malaysia qualify for a 5-year New Vehicle Warranty.
