The Volkswagen range in Malaysia just got a seven-seater addition in the form of a stretched Tiguan with three rows of seats. What’s really cool about the introduction to Malaysia is that Volkwagen has decided to bring back the 220 PS, 350 Nm 2.0 TSI variant with the Tiguan Allspace R-Line – something we haven’t seen since the first generation Tiguan was introduced here.
If you haven’t guessed it yet, the Tiguan Allspace is effectively a stretched Tiguan that accommodates up to seven occupants courtesy of a third row of seats. The third row of seats can be folded flat if you need the extra boot space, offering up to 700 litres with the third row dropped, and a whopping 1,775 litres with the second row collapsed as well.

First Drive: Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace R-Line
But alas, the Tiguan Allspace R-Line made it through unscathed. Part of that is down to the 4MOTION system shuffling power to the right axle at the right time, while the other part of it is down to just how well the chassis works – even if the core design is nearly two generations old. There is a remarkable amount of progressiveness and predictability that lets you stay confidently in control, right up to where the safety systems have to step in.View full review
